How it Works

True foods is a creative storehouse and bartering hub focused on the preservation of abundant food sources in the mid-Hudson Valley. We are a collective that is dedicated to growing/cooking/foraging food, salvaging products from waste streams and actively participating in our local food economy. Our philosophy is rooted in sharing, transparency, resiliency and the bountiful rewards of collective effort, with the goal of exchanging products and services as freely as possible.

By partnering with local land owners, TF stewards turn lawns and underutilized garden spaces into foods, herbal medicines and pollinator havens. Our priorities are to improve soil health, cultivate biodiversity, and support self-determination / creativity / ongoing relationships with local land work.  By working with clients to identify their needs, TF stewards design and implement gardens inspired by the multi-layer, dynamic interplay of the forest. Our cooperative network of stewards & food actors are committed to sharing food and building skills. We practice land and food work to honor our diverse heritages as people of the land; as radical acts of self-love with an understanding that direct, hands-on care for the land is care for ourselves and all other beings.
