Mission

True Foods

is a grassroots food-preservation collective in the mid-Hudson Valley, lands originally stewarded by the Lenape & Mohican people. We exist to share food & modern survival skills locally via radical, sliding-scale community efforts; together we are working towards self-determination in the way we spend our time, share our resources & experience liberation on land.

In 2020 we gleaned, cooked & preserved surplus foods from local farms as well as foraged fruits, greens & mushrooms. These abundant foods were made into various preserves that we ate & shared at community meals, free fridges, and directly with specific folks (caregivers, bipoc community, local bipoc-led orgs). We feel that the gallery on our website tells our story best.

We are advocates of healthy food systems, from sun to soil to plate; by acknowledging that we are guests on this Earth and are all living on stolen land, we strive to honor and rekindle our sacred relationships to the foods we consume and the gardens we steward. There are many ways to contribute; members can volunteer, create products or donate monetarily. Join the collective to work towards securing year-round, local foods for yourself, family and community.
